Rosemead : Man Dies Crossing Freeway
A 35-year-old Rosemead man died early Wednesday morning as he tried to dash across the Pomona Freeway (60) and was struck by at least six cars.
Juan Flores began running north across the eastbound lanes of the freeway west of Rosemead Boulevard at about 1 a.m. but was hit by a car just as he reached the fast lane, California Highway Patrol Officer Ruben Martinez said.
Flores was knocked down and hit by five other cars, Martinez said.
Officers said they don’t know why Flores ran across the freeway, which at that point crosses the fairly isolated Whittier Narrows Recreation Area.
No abandoned vehicle was found nearby and Flores lived some distance from the accident site, Martinez said.
