Clinton Lifts Abortion Curbs
These are, not surprisingly, tough days for those of us who voted for Bill Clinton in spite of deep conviction that abortion, as a family planning option, is evil. Please do not add to our anguish by implying that the President’s pro-abortion actions are a victory of light over darkness, or of statesmanship against pressure groups. There are powerful groups on both sides of the issue, and he has been bent to the pressure of groups you favor. He did so as the perceived price of election. That his assessment was probably accurate is a sign of our moral bankruptcy, not our strength.
