SOMIS : 3 Newcomers to Be Sworn In as School Board Members

Three newly elected Somis school board members will be sworn into office Wednesday during a brief ceremony at Somis Elementary School.
Newcomers Sue Klausner, Mark Smith and Jim Bushong defeated incumbents Alda Perry, Miguel Mejia and Debbie Carpenter in a special recall election Dec. 15.
The new members will take the oath of office before Wednesday’s regular board meeting beginning at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium at 5268 North St., officials said.
The three outgoing board members became targets of a recall drive after voting early last year to fire then-Supt. Dale Forgey.
The three felt Forgey’s job performance was unsatisfactory.
Forgey had served 12 years as head of the 325-student school district.
The leaders of the drive, a group of about 50 Somis residents, said the three board members harbored a personal resentment of Forgey and were interfering with his job.
