WOODLAND HILLS : Kaiser to Donate $44,000 to Pierce

Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills has agreed to donate $44,000 to the Pierce College nursing program, allowing more students to enroll this year, a company spokeswoman said Monday.
Pierce College officials were considering reducing by a quarter the number of new nursing students admitted for the spring semester because of state budget cuts.
The donation, which will cover the cost of a nursing instructor, will forestall those cuts, Kaiser spokeswoman Pamela Spencer said.
Pierce has been a source of nursing graduates for Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills, which serves about 145,000 residents of the San Fernando Valley and Ventura County.
Kaiser will also donate $25,000 to the Hart Street Health Center in Canoga Park, which provides medical services to low-income students of the Los Angeles Unified School District who live in the west San Fernando Valley.
