Investigators were searching Sunday for the killer of a 17-year-old boy who died in San Fernando in a gang-related, drive-by shooting that also wounded a 23-year-old woman, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The teen-ager, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, died at San Fernando Community Hospital shortly after the 1:40 a.m. Sunday shooting in the 700 block of Hewitt Street, Deputy Ron Weber said.
Weber said the boy and a friend, Geneva Chavez, were getting out of a car when several shots were fired from a passing sport utility vehicle.
Chavez was treated for bullet wounds to the wrist and buttocks at San Fernando Community Hospital and released, San Fernando Police Officer Jim Ramirez said.
