Banning guns would be tantamount to banning cars because of accidents. People have got to start taking responsibility for themselves. And one of the ways society can help is by improving our educational system. We must provide more jobs and we must try to get all those who are capable of working off welfare. Until those who are not working have a purpose to get up in the morning, to contribute to their families and society, then, and only then will the violence stop.
When people have a purpose, things like pride set in and the violence will stop. Besides, I believe the right is more important than the act. Even though I don’t own a gun, I, as an American citizen, still want that right. Because if they (government) take this right from me, then what would stop them from taking other rights from me. No, I think it would open up doors we don’t want opened. There are other ways to stop the killing in our streets. But banning guns is not one of them.
