TRACK : Perea Leads the Pack

Jorge Perea lapped Griffith Park’s 2.9-mile course in 13:56 Thursday to lead the Huntington Park High cross-country team to a 25-31 victory over Garfield High. Perea posted the fastest time of the day among all runners from the Northern and Southeastern conferences.
In other boys varsity action, Belmont High put the first nine finishers across the line but needed just five runners to score 15 points and defeat Marshall, which finished with 21. Belmont’s Wilbur Estrada won his race in 14:41.
Eagle Rock also had 15 points to defeat Wilson, which scored 23. Winner Rudi Espino (14:39) was followed by five Eagle Rock teammates across the finish line.
In girls varsity, Garfield’s Ana Delgado finished in 19:45 to lead the Bulldogs to a 15-50 win over Huntington Park.
