DALLAS — The traditional rally on the eve of the Texas-Oklahoma football game turned violent Friday night, as four shootings, two stabbings and two assaults left one person dead and several others injured.
More than 500 police officers were on hand to maintain order.
“They’ve made some arrests of juveniles with guns,” Dallas City Councilman Chris Luna said. “They get in fights, start shoving, and the next thing you know, there’s a shot.”
The fatal shooting occurred at about 11:15 p.m. when an unidentified young man riding on the bed of a small pickup truck was hit by bullets fired from a passing car, witnesses said. Police said they have no suspects in the case.
A total of 91 were arrested, authorities said.
