Serbian Cleric Tours With Message of Peace

NEW YORK — Amid rising international concern about bloodshed and reports of atrocities against civilians in the former Yugoslavia, a leading Serbian cleric has begun a monthlong tour of North America to deliver a message of peace.
Serbian Orthodox Patriarch Pavle spoke of the “horror, misfortune and pain” that afflicts his homeland, where ethnic warfare has pitted Serbians of predominantly Orthodox background against Catholics and Muslims in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
“How can we say we know God, whom we can’t see, when we don’t have love for our fellow man, whom we do see?” asked Pavle.
