Polaroid Unveils Small Instant Camera: Polaroid Corp. unveiled a compact instant camera and film system designed to compete in the market for 35-millimeter cameras. The camera, which will be available in the United States next summer, features auto-focusing and a single-lens reflex system. It is automated, uses pocket-size film and has a storage chamber that allows users to watch pictures develop without ejecting them from the body of the camera. Wall Street gave it good reviews. “Polaroid hasn’t had a major new instant-product introduction since 1986, so anything is bound to help,” said Mark Obenzinger, an analyst at Sherwood Research Group.
