The Tampa Bay group seeking to buy the San Francisco Giants and move the National League team to Florida is offering $115 million, the team said.
“The deal calls for $105 million in cash and $10 million in short-term loans,” Giant spokesman Duffy Jennings said Saturday. It was the first time hard figures were released on the bid; published reports had put the proposal between $110 and $115 million. Giant owner Bob Lurie would lend back $10 million of the purchase price, and the investors would be required to repay him in four years, Jennings said.
