Better Dead Than Read

It’s reassuring to know that all those trees are being pulped for good use when we read about the visionary director DeVito.
Searing insight: “If we had a guy like this running the country,” he says, “I’d breathe easy.”
Onerous burdens: “Kubrick didn’t have some accountant breathing down his neck,” Goldstein writes. “David Lean didn’t have some studio errand boy counting . . . camels.”
Gosh, maybe they did and maybe they didn’t. But then again, maybe they’re not quite in DeVito’s league.
