Michael Andretti outgunned Emerson Fittipaldi for the pole position in today’s Molson Indy-car race at Vancouver, Canada.
After Andretti ran a lap of 109.860 to seemingly lock up the pole, Fittipaldi, coming off two consecutive victories, posted a lap of 109.941 less than four minutes from the end of qualifying.
Andretti, struggling through much of the session with a broken clutch, answered with two laps of more than 110 m.p.h.
