Honeywell Settles Auto-Focus Suits: Honeywell Inc. said it reached out-of-court settlements of patent-infringement cases against some of the world’s major camera makers over the company’s auto-focus technology. Honeywell, which received $127.5 million from Minolta Camera Co. last March to settle a suit over the technology, said it will receive another $124 million in the latest settlements. The maker of technological control systems said it will also receive future royalties for camera sales through March 28, 1995, when its patents on the auto-focus technology expire. Honeywell said the new settlements involve Eastman Kodak, Konica, Kyocera, Canon, Matsushita, Nikon and Premier regarding its patents for lens shutter and single-lens-reflex cameras. Honeywell is still seeking compensation from Japanese camera makers Olympus, Asahi Optical, Ricoh and several others.
