SOLOS WITH ATTITUDE: Don’t look for all those planned N.W.A. members’ solo albums in your Christmas stocking this year. Of the three that were supposed to be done this fall, only Eazy-E’s will actually make it to the stores--on Sept. 29.
But MC Ren’s album, the follow-up to his current EP, has been postponed until early next year, reportedly because he’s had to wait until one of his producers finished working on LL Cool J’s album, which is due at the end of October. And Dr. Dre’s album has also been delayed, with no explanation from the label and no new projected release date.
Meanwhile, Eazy-E appears to be addressing accusations of anti-Semitism in rap. He’s signed a Jewish rap duo called Blood of Abraham to his Ruthless Records. One member of the group, Dre swears, is from Nigeria, and the other from Las Vegas. A label representative says that the album, tentatively scheduled for November, features the pair “rapping about their Jewishness--sort of rabbinical rap.”
