Authorities arrested four men and confiscated 9 pounds of marijuana Thursday in connection with a drug-trafficking operation near John F. Kennedy Park.
Gustavo Zavala-Sobrinas, 22, was arrested about 6 a.m. after federal and local authorities served a warrant at his apartment in the 300 block of Ozark Street, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Three Mexican citizens who were at the apartment and who were believed to be involved in the operation were also arrested, police said. They were identified as Juan Carlos Lorenzano, 21; David Galvan, 20, and Jose Galvan, 21, police said.
Found with the marijuana were 2 grams of cocaine, $21,717 in cash and a .45-caliber pistol, Robinson said.
The four men were being held at the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center downtown on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to distribute and armed drug trafficking.
The arrests came after a three-month investigation involving San Diego police, U.S. marshal’s deputies and agents from the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Robinson said.
