Ralph Strait, 56, a character actor who appeared in dozens of plays and hundreds of commercials, most notably as “Pride,” the plump, jovial half of the “Price and Pride” A&P; market commercials that ran throughout the country in the 1970s. Although Strait worked primarily on the East Coast, where he appeared in leading works by Harold Pinter, Edward Albee, Lanford Wilson and Eugene O’Neill, he also spent several years in Hollywood, in such feature films as “The Beastmaster” and “Halloween III” and on episodic television in “Trapper John, M.D.,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Dukes of Hazzard” and more. In New York City on Friday of a heart attack.
