LOS ANGELES : Plan to Reallocate Revenue From LAX Put on Ballot
- Share via
The Los Angeles City Council unanimously agreed Tuesday to place a charter amendment on the November ballot that would allow city officials to transfer Los Angeles International Airport revenues to the general fund.
If passed by voters, the charter amendment, sponsored by Councilwoman Ruth Galanter, would be the first in a three-step process needed to make the revenues available for city use.
Separately, the council again rejected a charter amendment for the November ballot--sponsored by Councilman Joel Wachs--to place a two-term limit on elected city officials and remove the city’s 32 general managers from Civil Service protections.
Next Tuesday, the council will consider a similar term limit measure proposed by Mayor Tom Bradley and sponsored by Councilman Michael Woo for the April ballot.
