Safeway Settles Labeling Suit: The Oakland-based grocery chain agreed to a $525,000 settlement on allegations that it mislabeled beef that did not meet standards of USDA Choice. The settlement includes $225,000 worth of groceries to be donated to San Francisco Bay Area food banks. Last August, Safeway agreed to a $150,000 settlement of another part of the suit.
