*** 1/2 Fairfield Four, “Standing in the Safety Zone,” Warner Bros. A bona fide gospel album on a major label is a rarity these days, but with a cappella harmonizing this divinely inspired, it’s easy to see why this veteran group, which has been touring with Lyle Lovett recently, warranted an exception. It may just be the sweetest sound this side of the Pearly Gates.
Albums are rated on a scale of one asterisk (poor) to four (excellent).
