Michael Edelman; Weighed 1,000 Pounds

Michael Edelman, 28, who weighed as much as 1,000 pounds. Edelman came to public attention in December, 1987, when he slipped from his bed in his Wesley Hills, N.Y., bungalow. A tow truck was used to pull him up. The next year he was loaded by forklift onto a flatbed truck when he was evicted. On March 28 in Suffern, N.Y., where he had been hospitalized because of pneumonia and heart problems that stemmed from his weight.
