OUTLOOK

Ocean View has qualified for the playoffs 10 straight years and this year should be no exception. For starters, the Seahawks have the best outfield in the county with all-league returners Crowe in right, Rivera in center and the versatile Edwardson in left. Ocean View is also strong up the middle with Edison transfer Bellovich at catcher, Fraser at shortstop, Nakamura at second and Rivera in center. Crowe, who has signed with Stanford, hit 10 homers with 25 RBIs as a junior but somehow only earned second-team all-league honors. Bartels, the team’s only experienced pitcher, was a first-team all-league selection with 7-2 record and 2.20 earned-run average. Rivera stole 16 bases and batted .400. Ocean View is particularly tough at home where it has a 24-3 record over the past two seasons in league play. “I think we have tremendous offensive potential,” Barrett said. “We’ve got some guys who can flat-out hit.” The Seahawks open against the county’s top team, El Dorado, in the opening round of the Loara Tournament Friday at Glover Stadium.
