OUTLOOK
Last year, Edison surprised everyone by upsetting Riverside Poly, Burbank, Long Beach Jordan and Diamond Bar to reach the 5-A championship game before losing to Long Beach Millikan, 8-2. The Chargers finished in a four-way tie for third in the seven-team league but won a complicated tie-breaker to become the league’s No. 3 entry. Allbee, a gifted left-hander, returns for his senior year. He was one of the major reasons Edison advanced to the championship game, earning victories over Riverside Poly, Burbank and Diamond Bar. Allbee struck out 76 batters in 72 innings and had a 2.32 earned-run average. “Our strength is the battery of Shawn Allbee and Ryan Belitz,” Harrell said. “If everything comes together, I feel we have as good a chance as anyone to win the league. The key will be getting good pitching from our No. 2 and No. 3 pitchers.” Warren, a second team all-league selection, batted .298 with 13 RBIs and Harrell’s son, Matt, had two homers with 10 RBIs.
