Ankle Injury Fells Simi Valley’s Fischer
Senior first baseman Aaron Fischer of Simi Valley High, a preseason All-State selection by Cal-Hi Sports, injured an ankle during practice Tuesday and could be out of action for as long as four weeks, according to Coach Mike Scyphers.
Fischer, who hit .473 with nine home runs and a region-leading 38 runs batted in last season, was an All-Southern Section 5-A Division selection. He is the second Simi Valley player to suffer an ankle injury in less than a week. Sophomore third baseman Ryan Hankins, who was injured last week, will undergo surgery and miss four to six weeks.
