A 17-year-old boy sought as a suspect in the Feb. 24 gang shootings in a West Covina shopping mall has surrendered.
Accompanied by an attorney, the Monrovia youth turned himself in to West Covina officers Wednesday, officials said. He was placed in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey pending filing of felony criminal charges for attempted murder and shooting into an inhabited dwelling, officials said.
The youth is suspected of being one of two gang members who fired 15 shots into The Plaza on a busy Monday evening. Two shoppers and a gang member were injured, none seriously. The other suspect, Richard Ramos, 19, of Monterey Park, was arrested three days after the shooting and has pleaded not guilty.
