SOUTH COUNTY : Jet Noise Near Base to Increase Monday

Noise around the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station is expected to increase Monday evening, when student pilots will learn how to make night landings on an aircraft carrier with practice runs on the base’s airstrip.
The field carrier landing practice is scheduled from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
Most carrier landings practiced by El Toro pilots take place at San Clemente Island. Landing practice moves to El Toro, however, when pilots from other air stations are using the island or when bad weather forces the practice to move inland.
