Albanian Election Set

TIRANA, Albania — President Ramiz Alia, wrestling with growing political and economic turmoil after the collapse of his government earlier this month, has called new elections for March 1, state radio said Saturday.
The date is a compromise between former Communists who insisted on summer elections and the leading opposition group, the Democrats, who pushed for a ballot this year.
