Bulgin Triggers PLNC in Rout of Grand Canyon

Point Loma Nazarene defeated its second NCAA Division II men’s basketball team in eight days as the Crusaders, members of the NAIA, routed Grand Canyon, 93-74, Monday at PLNC’s Golden Gym.
PLNC’S Mark Bulgin made 10 of 14 field goals, including six of 10 from three-point range, to lead all scorers with 27 points. Teammate Donnie Buettner added 21 points, Rusty Fallin 18 and Frank Dews 12 as the Crusaders (4-5) produced a season-high 93 points.
Led by Fallin’s 10 rebounds, PLNC outrebounded the bigger ‘Lopes, 50-32.
PLNC plays two more NCAA Division II teams this week--Thursday at Cal State Hayward and Friday at San Francisco State.
VOLLEYBALL
Adding to a 20-year career in sports marketing and production, John D. Carroll, 56, was named the executive director of the United State Volleyball Assn. Both the men’s and women’s national volleyball teams train in San Diego.
