Circle K to Dispose of 1,500 Stores: The Phoenix convenience store chain said it will close or sell more than 1,500 of its 3,700 stores and refurbish the remaining outlets to help it emerge from bankruptcy court. The proposal was distributed to creditors Wednesday. The next step will be a reorganization plan filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Circle K has been operating under court supervision since May, 1990, when it filed for Chapter 11 protection from creditors.
