Sexism in Advertising

What bothers me the most about Collins’ column is that he is a law professor. The kind of assault on free speech that he represents, whether the politically correct doctrine of orthodox feminism or not, is as dangerous to liberty as anything coming from Jesse Helms.
As a card-carrying member of the ACLU, I hope that it, and most people, will continue to see through the attempts of radicals, left or right, to undermine the First Amendment and, as in this case, to substitute neo-totalitarian criteria for speech based on quasi-Marxist theories about “oppression,” “exploitation,” and so forth.
The “Bikini Team” is foolish and ridiculous, but is also a harmless and relatively innocent sexual fantasy.
I suspect that it is sexual fantasy as such that Collins never allows himself, or wants to allow anyone else, the pleasure of enjoying.
