Fullerton to Face Tough Fresno State

FRESNO — Fresno State will start its third-string quarterback, junior Brian Rowe, against Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference game tonight at 7.
Redshirt freshman Trent Dilfer started the last three games in place of Mark Barsotti, who suffered a broken leg four weeks ago, but Dilfer has a bone chip in the ring finger on his throwing hand and will play only in an emergency.
Fresno State, 8-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play, probably will not need him. The Bulldogs lead the country in total offense, averaging 546.2 yards, behind a ground attack that has averaged a conference-leading 299.3 yards.
The Titans, 1-8 and 0-5, will be without their best player, running back Reggie Yarbrough, who suffered an ankle injury last week.
