Channel Checks: ABC’s “Life Goes On” has been picked up for five additional episodes, giving it the green light for a full season. . . . In case you missed “MacGyver” this week, he now has a first name: Angus. . . . NBC is expected to sign “20/20” producer Jeff Diamond as executive producer of the network’s revamped magazine show with Jane Pauley. The network is also interested in talking to “20/20” correspondent Stone Phillips about being a possible co-anchor for Pauley on the show. . . . The Family Channel is reviving “The Original Amateur Hour,” to air as six specials with Willard Scott of “Today” as the host. . . . Kenny Rogers, who just scored big ratings for NBC with “The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw” miniseries, has signed a deal with the network to develop a one-hour drama series.
