HUNTINGTON BEACH — Police have identified a 56-year year-old motorcyclist who was killed when he and a female passenger crashed into the back of a pickup truck, police said.
The crash left the passenger in a coma in a hospital’s intensive care unit.
Police said Donald Joseph Puzio of Huntington Beach was heading south on Beach Boulevard near Ellis Avenue about 6 p.m. Friday when his motorcycle rammed into the back of a Nissan pickup delivering pizza.
The driver of the truck told police that he had stopped for traffic when he saw in his rear-view mirror that the motorcycle was heading toward him.
The motorcycle hit the pickup, ejecting Puzio and his passenger. Neither wore a helmet.
The passenger, who had no identification, suffered massive head injuries.
They were rushed by helicopter to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where Puzio died two hours later.
Police are requesting anyone who has information on the woman’s identity to call (714) 960-8811.
