Man Found Slain in Vista Motel Room

An unidentified man was shot and killed in a motel room in Vista, the Sheriff’s Department reported Wednesday.

Deputies found the victim lying on a floor in an upstairs room at the Best Western Hilltop Motel, sheriff’s investigators said. The victim had suffered several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead by paramedics about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities were looking for the man who rented the room, identified as Fabian Gonzales, the spokesman said. He was not considered a suspect but was being sought for questioning.

Gonzales was last seen riding a red racer-style motorcycle, with possible license number 12T4953. Two men in a pickup truck seen driving away from shooting scene are also being sought, homicide detectives said.
