MOORPARK : Peddlers Face Ban From Schools, Parks
- Share via
Ice cream peddlers and other solicitors will be banned from Moorpark school grounds and city parks during school hours beginning in December.
The Moorpark City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to ban all peddlers and solicitors from operating within a quarter of a mile of schools and parks between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on school days.
The ban will affect about a dozen ice cream peddlers who come to Moorpark from Los Angeles County, Community Development Director Patrick J. Richards said.
Moorpark officials became concerned about the peddlers after several children in Los Angeles County ran into traffic when they were chasing vendors, Richards said.
The peddlers are licensed to work in the city of Moorpark, and no parents have complained to city officials about the merchants, Richards said.
