Congressional Benefits

This has been a depressing couple of days. First you report that the Supreme Court has decided that it is perfectly all right for a judge to order a citizen beaten, and then you tell us about the obscene variety of prerequisites our congressmen enjoy at our expense. Truly, some of the animals on this farm are more equal than others!
I was particularly smitten by the quote from Rep. Waxman, a supporter of national health insurance who apparently sees no irony in the fact that as a congressman he enjoys free medical care, including prescription drugs.
If he were to give it a moment’s thought, he might realize that if he and his colleagues were forced to shell out ever-increasing premiums for health insurance, as we do, they would be more inclined to vote with him on that issue.
