Airline Offers Discount for Some Children: Southwest Airlines became the first airline to offer discount fares for children under age 2 who travel in automobile safety seats. Southwest said the new infant fares provided discounts of up to 60% off unrestricted coach fares. The Federal Aviation Adminstration permits children under age 2 to travel in a parent’s lap. However, safety experts say it is not safe for children to do so.
