With regard to Chris Pasles’ observation that the New Grove Dictionary of American Music’s giving 1971 as the date for Paul Chihara’s “Redwood,” instead of 1967, which was listed in our concert program (“Southwest Chamber Still Shows Youth,” Oct. 26):
For your information, the composer’s manuscript gives the date of completion as 1967. It is common for the composer to place the date of completion at the end of each work. Grove’smay have been referring to the “date of publication,” which often is later.
