OJAI : Little League Helps Replace Backstops
- Share via
Mira Monte Elementary School in Ojai will have two new baseball field backstops, thanks to the Oak View Little League, which organized the construction project so its teams would have a place to practice.
Work started last week on the $3,090 replacements, which will be dedicated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Nov. 15, according to project chairwoman Della Chamberlain.
Chamberlain said Leo Molitor, assistant superintendent of the Ojai Unified School District, asked for help in June when old backstops failed a safety inspection and the school did not have enough money to replace them.
The Little League contributed $1,500 and the Mira Monte PTA gave $590 to augment $1,000 in the school budget.
