MIXED MEDIA : * “LaTOYA: GROWING UP IN THE JACKSON FAMILY” By LaToya Jackson with Patricia Romanowski Dutton ($19.95)
This is sleazy tabloid stuff--a vindictive look at the Jackson family from the point of view of its least talented member. The biggest news is her accusation that father Joseph was a child-abusing, adulterous monster. Some of the more sensational charges that she has been making in interviews aren’t actually in the book, but are likely to attract readers who assume they are. Beyond a few mean-spirited observations, there’s little in this book that most Jackson-family watchers and tabloid readers don’t already know.
Items in this periodic survey of pop-related books, videos and laser discs are rated on a scale of one star (poor) to four (excellent).
