GARDEN GROVE — Thanks to running back Jim Sebreros’ four touchdowns and 133 rushing yards and a defensive backfield that caused considerable trouble for Los Amigos quarterback Joey Portillo, Garden Grove remained undefeated with a 34-13 Garden Grove League victory Friday night at Garden Grove High.
Sebreros, who has rushed for 528 yards and 10 touchdowns, gave the Argonauts (7-0, 4-0 in league) a 13-0 first-quarter lead on touchdown runs of 34 and seven yards.
Defensive back Brandon Hoalton’s 93-yard fumble return starting the second quarter increased Garden Grove’s lead to 19-0. Hoalton also had two interceptions, and his brother, Steve, also intercepted two. Portillo only completed four of eight passes for 81 yards with two of the interceptions.
Sebreros scored twice in the third quarter on runs of 36 and one yard.
Los Amigos (2-5, 1-3) got its touchdowns on Portillo’s one-yard quarterback keeper near the end of the first half and a 47-yard pass from second-string quarterback Mike Russell to Jeff Cockrane in the fourth quarter.
