Lamarr Let Off: Prosecutors in Florida have decided not to charge former screen siren Hedy Lamarr with shoplifting from a drugstore because of her age, poor eyesight and circumstances of the case. Lamarr, 76, signed an agreement promising not to break any laws for a year. If she does, theft charges could be filed. Lamarr, who lives in an Orlando suburb, was detained last August after walking out of a store with unpaid items in her purse. Her lawyer said she thought she had paid for the $21.48 worth of laxative tablets and eyedrops and added that she always shops with a companion because she cannot see well.
