Foothill 17, El Modena 5--Steve Salata had six goals and Brent Palluck added four as Foothill won at El Modena.

In the Empire League:

Los Alamitos 16, Katella 6--Randy Wright scored five goals and Peter Odorico added four for the visiting Griffins. Ray Schmidt and Curt Wannebo each had three for Katella.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Costa Mesa 6, Laguna Hills 5--Sam Grayeli scored two goals in the third quarter to give host Costa Mesa (11-9, 3-0) a 5-3 lead. J.R. Porter also scored for Costa Mesa. Chad Carvin scored all five goals for Laguna Hills.

In the Sunset League:

Edison 9, Westminster 5--Lonnie Peek scored three of his four goals during a five-goal second quarter for the Chargers (12-9, 4-0) at Golden West College.

In Orange League girls’ tennis:

Brea-Olinda 10, Western 8--Brea won the final two sets to break an 8-8 tie and win a match carried over from Tuesday, when it was halted because of darkness. Brea improved to 4-3 in league; Western is 3-4.
