Glendale College trustees on Monday approved the funding source for a vocational educational program, authorizing the school to enter into a $1,233,700 contract with the Employment Training Panel of California.
With the state providing funding for the program, Glendale College instructors will train more than 1,000 employees in the aerospace industry who are at risk of losing their jobs.
The panel granted approval for Glendale College to offer 20-week courses in quality-management and statistical-process control earlier this month.
About 30 instructors started teaching the classes this week, said Sharleen Wagner, director of the college’s Professional Development Center.
