California IN BRIEF : SAN DIEGO : Body of Missing Girl Found in Canyon

The decomposed body of 9-year-old Amanda Leigh Gaeke was found in a canyon in her North Park neighborhood, authorities said. She had been missing since Oct. 3. The body was identified through dental records, said Bill Leard, county medical examiner investigator. An autopsy was planned for today, he said. It was not known when the girl died. Her body, wrapped in a blanket, was found by neighbors near 32nd Street shortly before noon, police said.
