Four people were arrested Monday after a man whose car recently had been stolen spotted the vehicle in front of a residence in Tujunga and notified police, Los Angeles police said.
During the investigation, police were told that another car parked in the driveway contained explosives and, as a precaution, officers detonated a small explosive device to blow open the truck, Lt. Thomas Maeweather said.
Members of the bomb squad determined that the car parked in the 1000 block of Haines Canyon Avenue did not contain explosives.
Police searching the residence also found two motorcycles believed to be stolen, Maeweather said.
Arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property were Richard McMahon, 34, of Tujunga and Jesse Valle, 20, address unknown. Franchone McCall, 22, of Tujunga and Patrick Way, 29, address unknown, were arrested on suspicion of interfering with a police officer, Maeweather said.
