Hicks Wins Main Event in Motorcycle Racing

COSTA MESA — Gary Hicks of Riverside won the four-lap scratch main event in speedway motorcycle racing Friday night at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Steve Lucero of Riverside was second, followed by Mike Faria of Colton and Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa.

Lucero also was the winner in the eight-lap handicap main event. Louis Kosuth of Brea was second, followed by Scott Brant of Riverside and Shawn McConnell of Brea.

In other racing, Sonny Nutter of Topanga won two old-timer match races, defeating Danny Becker of Costa Mesa and Dubb Ferrell of Whittier.
