J.D. Coffman, a freshman offensive lineman at Marshall University in Huntington, W. Va., died of a virus infection.
Coffman, 19, of Ironton, Ohio, reported to the training room Wednesday, vomiting and complaining of headaches.
The 6-foot-1, 266-pound lineman was taken to a hospital, where he died Thursday.
