La Canada Flintridge : Golfers Lose Practice Sites
- Share via
The City Council has voted to prohibit golf lessons and practice at the city’s Memorial Park and La Canada High School.
Balls left by golfers pose a risk to students and others playing sports, such as baseball and football, and have caused lawn-mowing equipment to be badly damaged, said Mindy Jacobs of the Public Works Department.
The council amended a park facility-use ordinance to give Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies authority to order golfers to leave city parks and fields, but it specified no penalty.
Councilman Jim Edwards cast the only dissenting vote, saying the ordinance had no teeth.
