RAVEL: “Daphnis et Chloe.” DIAMOND: “Elegy in Memory of Maurice Ravel.” Seattle Symphony and Chorale, conducted by Gerard Schwarz. Delos DE 3110. Showing off the ravishing work of his rapidly advancing orchestra, Schwarz delivers a mostly warm, languorous “Daphnis,” capped by a surprisingly fast and furious Bacchanale. The sound matches the nature of the performance, a mellow, glowing perspective capturing just enough detail. David Diamond’s brief Elegy is a meditation of stark anguish.
